Sunshine Summer Camps 2022 – summary

Interactive Engineering STEM Camp (ages 8-14)

We provide students with hands-on access to the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics subjects to help build character and crucial problem-solving skills. The team projects help kids increase their knowledge of STEM subjects and instill an understanding of the application of math and science in the real world. By collaborating with teachers and teammates to solve engineering challenges, students will also strengthen their character in addition to scientific investigation and reasoning skills. They will practice the problem-solving model: analyzing given information, formulating a strategy, determining&justifying a solution, executing and evaluating the solution, displaying and explaining in written and oral communications.

LEGO and Robotics Camp (ages 7-12)

Robotics camps and projects allow students to dive deep into robotics and explore how computer programming and robot design can solve various problems! Our objective is to help students develop teamwork, leadership, organizational skills, and confidence and competence through guided and self-directed learning, problem-solving, and real-world engineering experience.

IEW Writing & Mini History Museum Project Camp (agesĀ  8-14)

Using the four language arts – listening, speaking, reading, and writing -IEW methods have been proven to be effective for students of all ages and levels of ability. During the camp, we will use this proven and well-
recognized method to train students to become confident and competent communicators. Students will enjoy the opportunity to build a mini-history museum together, choosing a historical event/figure of interest to develop a presentation at the end of the camp. After guided group reading, studying, and researching, students will create their unique museum entries with written articles, presentations, and exhibitions before audiences. Students will learn and practice reading, information collection, and note-taking skills. They will finalize their selection with a defined subject and topic, develop the KWO( key word outline), and create quality essays from multiple sources. With the final artistic representation and exhibition, they also develop skills in art design, oral presentation, and teamwork skills.
